Setting against the tranquil backdrop of Farmoor Reservoir, the Waterside Cafe owns an unparalleled view of mirror-like waters and panoramic woodland — a serene escape for those seeking both tasteful delights and a connection to nature. As an integral part of the Oxford Sailing Club, this cafe serves as a meeting ground for water sports enthusiasts, fostering an environment where shared experiences and joyous conversations flourish.

Where Baking Dream Meets Spectacular View at Waterside Cafe

"It's heartening to witness our customers bonding over their love for this reservoir. Our cafe acts as a hub, uniting individuals with common interests," shares Rachel Blackie, the passionate force behind the cafe. "We're open seven days a week, ensuring everyone can unwind with a cup of coffee after their time on the water."

Rachel's journey into the world of baking mirrors the enthusiasm of the cafe's patrons. Initially showcasing her skills through Roo's Kitchen — a venture featuring elaborate cakes at various markets — she quickly garnered support across the region. This overwhelming love from customers inspired her to venture into running her own cafe.

To capture optimal sunlight, a crucial element for this photoshoot, we patiently waited for favorable weather. Unfortunately, thick clouds and sudden rain disrupted our food photography session. Embracing the challenge, we swiftly shifted indoors, creatively using the cafe's signature tablecloth to craft a diverse visual narrative, revealing unexpected richness in our storytelling.

"Embracing the bakery journey was a joyous ride. I still craft cakes for markets while managing the cafe, cherishing every customer who admires my creations," Rachel says with a smile. "At Waterside Cafe, all our cakes and pastries are freshly baked, not factory-made. Upholding food quality is paramount; major ingredients are locally sourced to support nearby businesses and ensure freshness."

Aligned with Rachel's ethos of supporting local businesses, our studio shares a similar dedication to uplifting small enterprises. Through our photography, we aim not only to showcase the remarkable essence of these establishments, but also to offer a platform that amplifies their presence to a wider audience.

"Our commitment lies in spotlighting the uniqueness of local businesses," continues Wilson, one of our photographers. "We're passionate about harnessing our photographic skills to unlock the hidden charm of these ventures, allowing their distinct stories to shine through captivating imagery."

Let’s hear what our client says:

"We we're thoroughly impressed with Glee Pixels professionalism, discretion, versatility and adaptability. As a small new business, we wanted a photographer who could capture our ethos and provide a library of shots. Up until now we'd been unsuccessful in finding someone who could capture the food, the staff and the location and Glee Pixel did all three and were delighted with what we received. They captured the essence of Waterside cafe perfectly. We'd thoroughly recommend them."
